What is CreatorsPaycheck?

CreatorsPaycheck is a free earnings calculator built specifically for content creators who want to understand what their content is actually worth. Whether you post on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook, or Pinterest β€” this tool gives you a realistic earnings estimate based on the factors that actually matter: your niche, your audience location, and your platform.

Most earnings calculators online give you a single flat rate β€” something like "$3 per 1,000 views" β€” without explaining that a finance creator in the United States earns up to $18 per 1,000 views while a gaming creator with the same views earns just $3–$5. That six-fold difference changes everything about how you should think about your content strategy.

I built CreatorsPaycheck after spending years frustrated by the lack of accurate, honest creator earnings data online. Every number I found was either outdated, oversimplified, or completely wrong. So I compiled real 2026 RPM data from creator reports, industry research, and platform disclosures β€” and built a free tool that every creator can use to understand their earning potential.

How to Use the CreatorsPaycheck Calculator

The calculator is designed to take less than 30 seconds to complete. Here is exactly how to get the most accurate estimate:

1
Select your platform
Choose the platform where you post content β€” YouTube long-form, YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels, Facebook Page, or Pinterest. Each platform has its own RPM rates and monetisation mechanics built into the calculator.
2
Enter your monthly views
Enter how many total views your content receives per month. You can find this in your platform's analytics dashboard. If you are just starting out, enter an estimate of where you expect to be β€” the calculator works for any view count.
3
Choose your content niche
This is the most important selection. Your niche determines which advertisers bid to appear on your content and therefore how much they pay per view. Finance and business content attracts premium advertisers paying $14–$18 RPM. Entertainment attracts lower-paying advertisers at $2–$4 RPM.
4
Select your audience location
Where your viewers are located dramatically affects your earnings. US, UK, Canadian, and Australian viewers generate 6–10 times more ad revenue than viewers from Tier 3 countries like India or Southeast Asia. Select the tier that best describes where most of your audience lives.
5
Get your personalised estimate
The calculator instantly shows your low, mid, and high monthly earnings estimates along with an annual projection. You also receive a personalised tip specific to your niche explaining how to increase your earnings per view.

Real Earnings Examples β€” What the Calculator Shows

Here are three real examples of how different creators use the calculator and what results they get:

Example 1 β€” Finance YouTuber, US Audience
Platform: YouTube long-form
Monthly views: 100,000
Niche: Finance & Investing
Audience: Tier 1 (US/UK/AU)
$1,100 β€” $1,800 per month
Example 2 β€” Gaming Creator, Mixed Global Audience
Platform: YouTube long-form
Monthly views: 100,000
Niche: Gaming
Audience: Tier 3 (Asia/Global)
$80 β€” $150 per month
Example 3 β€” TikTok Lifestyle Creator, Australian Audience
Platform: TikTok
Monthly views: 500,000
Niche: Lifestyle
Audience: Tier 1 (AU)
$125 β€” $200 per month

These estimates reflect average 2026 RPM data. Actual earnings vary based on ad fill rate, watch time, and seasonal advertising spend.

Why Niche and Audience Location Matter More Than Views

The single most important insight from analysing thousands of creator earnings reports is this: two creators with identical view counts can have earnings that differ by 1,000% based purely on their niche and where their audience lives.

A gaming creator with 500,000 monthly views from a Southeast Asian audience might earn $150 per month. A personal finance creator with the same 500,000 monthly views from a US audience might earn $7,000 per month. Same platform. Same effort. Same view count. The difference is entirely in what advertisers are willing to pay to reach each audience.

Financial services advertisers β€” banks, investment platforms, insurance companies, credit card providers β€” pay $15–$20 per 1,000 views because even converting one viewer into a customer is worth thousands of dollars in annual revenue. Gaming peripheral brands cannot justify that same spend because their products are lower margin and less recurring.

This is why the CreatorsPaycheck calculator factors in both variables together β€” not just your view count. Understanding the interaction between niche, audience location, and platform gives you a far more accurate picture of your actual earning potential than any simple "per view" rate ever could.

Frequently asked questions

Everything creators want to know

How accurate are these earnings estimates?
Our estimates are based on average 2026 RPM data collected from creator reports, industry studies, and platform disclosures. Real earnings vary based on your specific audience engagement, advertiser demand in your region, and seasonal factors. Think of these as a realistic range, not a guarantee.
Why does niche matter so much?
Advertisers pay drastically different rates depending on who they want to reach. A finance video attracts banks and investment platforms willing to pay $15–$20 per 1,000 views. An entertainment video attracts lower-paying advertisers, resulting in $2–$5 RPM. Your niche is the single biggest factor in your earnings.
Why do US/UK viewers earn me more money?
Advertisers in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia pay significantly more per ad click because their customers have higher purchasing power. A US viewer clicking a finance ad might be worth $15 to an advertiser. The same click from a Tier 4 country might be worth $0.30. This is why audience location is so critical to your earnings.
What is RPM?
RPM stands for Revenue Per Mille β€” it's how much you earn per 1,000 views AFTER the platform takes its cut. YouTube keeps 45% of ad revenue and pays you 55%. So if advertisers spend $20 CPM on your videos, your RPM would be around $11. Our calculator already accounts for platform cuts in all estimates.
How can I increase my earnings?
The three fastest ways: (1) Switch to or add content in a higher-paying niche like finance or tech, (2) focus on growing your US/UK/Canada audience through English-language content, (3) increase your video length on YouTube (longer videos = more mid-roll ads = higher RPM). Our Pro plan gives you a full growth projection calculator.

Frequently Asked Questions

Creator Earnings β€” Your Questions Answered

How much does YouTube pay per 1,000 views in 2026? +

YouTube pays between $2 and $18 per 1,000 views in 2026 β€” but this range is misleading without context. The actual amount depends almost entirely on two factors: your content niche and where your audience lives.

Finance and investing content earns the most at $14–$18 RPM for a US or Australian audience, because financial services advertisers pay premium rates to reach potential customers worth thousands of dollars per year to them. Gaming content earns just $3–$5 RPM because gaming peripheral brands have lower margins and cannot justify the same ad spend.

The second factor β€” audience location β€” can be equally important. A US viewer is worth 6–10 times more than a viewer from India or Southeast Asia. Two creators with identical view counts can earn dramatically different amounts based purely on geography. Use the calculator above to get your personalised estimate.

How much does TikTok pay per 1,000 views? +

TikTok pays approximately $0.25 to $0.90 per 1,000 views through the TikTok Creativity Program in 2026. Finance content earns the most at $0.70–$0.90 RPM for Tier 1 (US/UK/Australian) audiences. Entertainment and lifestyle content earns $0.25–$0.35 RPM.

This is significantly less than YouTube β€” roughly 10–20 times lower per view. However TikTok's algorithm gives new accounts far greater organic reach than YouTube. A brand new TikTok account can genuinely go viral and reach 1 million views within days. On YouTube that same new account might reach 500 views.

The most effective strategy in 2026 is using TikTok to build an audience fast and then directing that audience to YouTube where the per-view earnings are dramatically higher.

What is RPM and how is it different from CPM? +

RPM (Revenue Per Mille) is the amount you actually earn per 1,000 views after YouTube takes their 45% cut. This is the number you see in YouTube Studio and the number that goes into your bank account.

CPM (Cost Per Mille) is what advertisers pay YouTube per 1,000 ad impressions β€” before any split. CPM is always higher than RPM because it is the gross figure.

The relationship: if advertisers pay a $20 CPM on your videos and 80% of your views are monetised, your RPM will be approximately $8.80 ($20 Γ— 0.55 Γ— 0.80). Always focus on RPM β€” not CPM β€” when evaluating your actual earnings.

Why did my YouTube earnings drop in January? +

Your YouTube earnings dropping in January is completely normal and happens to every monetised channel every year. It is not your fault and it is not the algorithm.

The reason is seasonal advertising spend. Advertisers spend heavily in Q4 (October–December) to capture holiday shoppers and use up annual budgets before year end. When January arrives, those budgets reset and advertisers spend conservatively while planning their new year campaigns.

This pattern causes RPM to drop 20–40% in January and February compared to the Q4 peak β€” for every channel in every niche. Your earnings will recover as the year progresses, with Q4 again being the highest-earning period.

How many subscribers do I need to make $1,000 per month? +

Subscribers are the wrong metric to track for income goals. Views β€” not subscribers β€” generate AdSense revenue. Here is how many monthly views you actually need to earn $1,000/month in different niches with a primarily US/UK/Australian audience:

  • Finance niche ($16 RPM): approximately 62,500 monthly views
  • Tech niche ($11 RPM): approximately 91,000 monthly views
  • Health niche ($9 RPM): approximately 111,000 monthly views
  • Gaming niche ($4 RPM): approximately 250,000 monthly views
  • Entertainment niche ($3 RPM): approximately 333,000 monthly views

A finance creator needs 5 times fewer views than an entertainment creator to earn the same income. This is why niche selection is the most important strategic decision a new creator makes.

Does YouTube Shorts pay the same as long-form videos? +

No β€” YouTube Shorts pays approximately 10–20% of what long-form content earns per 1,000 views. A finance creator earning $16 RPM on long-form videos would earn approximately $1.60–$3.20 RPM on Shorts.

The reason is structural. Long-form ads are shown before and during your video and matched directly to your content. Shorts ads are served between videos in the feed and revenue is pooled across all Shorts creators before being distributed based on proportional view share.

Despite the lower per-view earnings, Shorts are valuable for channel growth. The Shorts algorithm gives new accounts significantly greater reach than long-form β€” making Shorts an effective tool for growing your subscriber base before converting them to long-form viewers where the real AdSense income is.

Is CreatorsPaycheck free to use? +
